Story Mill Culinary Center - Graduate Integrated Design Studio
This project challenged us with designing an integrated culinary center in the heart of Bozeman Montana. This typology forced us to understand and incorperate complex programs including: a restaurant, food market and production areas, bulk storage, and systems for raising livestock. My concept revolves around transforming tourism into active exploration, guiding users through several confluences. It maintains a connection to the Bozeman landscape through divided spaces and visual connections, repeatedly drawing attention from industry and production to redefine their perception of food. Users are drawn towards the farmland while the surrounding architecture dissolves over time, seamlessly exposing them to the essence of food and farm in its purest form. The design ambitiously utilizes a mass timber frame and rammed earth retaining walls to support seamless earth sheltering and intensive green roofing, blending the landscape while preserving pasture.
