Time Capsule - ICMA Concrete Masonry Competition

This competition required us to design libraries utilizing concrete masonry units (CMU). Our site was located in downtown Moscow, Idaho. My project titled “Time Capsule” takes advantage of its location, highlighting Moscow’s rich past while looking toward the town’s future. Utilizing the ability to have multi-colored CMU blocks, the building takes motifs from historic downtown and seamlessly blends them into a modern structure. Program of the space also represents the way libraries had previously been used as well as current trends that are seen in modern libraries. Programs on the modern wing include the children’s area, cafe, and teens areas to represent a more lively space. Whereas the “past” wing has study spaces, computer lab, and an adult area.
